Put money back in your pocket with the Medicare Savings Program! The Medicare Savings Program helps pay for some or all out-of-pocket costs such as Medicare premiums, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and prescription drug costs for qualifying individuals.

Why apply for the Medicare Savings Program?
Are you struggling with the cost of Medicare and your prescriptions? Like many people in South Carolina, you may be eligible to pay less through two free programs: The Medicare Savings Program, which can cover your premium, and Extra Help, which can lower your prescription drug costs. Call 800-726-8774 and Select Option 1 Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM– 5:00 PM, to speak with one of our trained benefits counselors to find out if you qualify and to receive free application assistance. The Medicare Savings Program does not impact your Medicare Advantage Plans or Supplements.
Who is eligible for the Medicare Savings Program?
There are four Medicare Savings Program options, each with different income and resource eligibility requirements. You may be eligible if you:
- Meet income and asset guidelines
- Live in South Carolina
- Are 65 or older
- Receive Social Security Disability benefits
- Have certain disabilities or end-stage renal disease
