Amaris Gibson

Amaris Gibson comes to SCIMHA after a decade of serving children and families in different capacities throughout the Upstate of South Carolina. Amaris has a contagious passion for educating families on mental health care and the impacts of intergenerational trauma on children and families. She wholeheartedly promotes community cohesiveness, trauma-informed education, and services to increase relational health at every level. Her enthusiasm for psychoeducation and infant mental health has led her to her current role as an Infant Mental Health Training Specialist at SCIMHA. A graduate of Webster University in Community Counseling, Amaris is a Licensed Professional Counselor and endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Specialist. Her dedication to helping children and families led her to serve as an administrative coordinator for Empower Oconee (a community impact program) and a group leader for the Strengthening Families Program (an evidence-based program that teaches family skills to children and parents). Amaris is also an ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Master Level Trainer. Amaris’ greatest joy is loving her family, her husband, two children and dog-child and serving together in their community. She enjoys traveling, reading, and meditating on life’s goodness (and the sometimes challenges).
