#PhysicalMentalFinancial

SC Thrive has joined the global #GivingTuesdayand the state-wide #GivingSC campaigns which harness the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to celebrate generosity internationally and locally. #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, following the popular Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year, #GivingTuesday is on November 28th. SC Thrive joined #GivingTuesday and #GivingSC to shed light on their campaign: Helping the Whole Person: Physical, Mental & Financial Health. #PhysicalMentalFinancial

“We help the whole state help the whole person and in 2018, we are placing greater emphasis on this holistic approach. #GivingTuesday is a good time to start our #helpingthewholeperson #physicalmentalfinancial emphasis, as well as to allow people to take advantage of the tax deduction towards this fundraising campaign in 2017,” said Tricia Richardson, Executive Director.

Since 2014, SC Thrive has promoted physical health by providing thousands of neighbors, nonprofits and churches access to stabilizing health and nutrition resources—seeing over 18,000 people apply for healthcare and over 3,600 apply for nutrition assistance in 2016 alone. To promote mental health awareness, SC Thrive’s Mental Health First Aid training has grown from seven trainings with 48 people in 2014 to over 100 trainings with more than 1,100 people certified by the end of this year. “We also offer financial wellness education and tax filing education and assistance. The money put back into tax filers’ pockets helps financially stabilize their households and is absolutely essential to our vision of stabilized, healthy communities,” notes Richardson.

The SC Thrive fundraising campaign for #helpingthewholeperson kicks off on November 28, 2017 and ends December 31, 2017. According to Richardson, there is a matching gift of $1,500 already pledged towards this effort. “So giving $1 really equals giving $2!” says Richardson.
